Panasonic Wins Red Dot Award in the Design Concept Category of the Red Dot Design Award 2018
Panasonic Corporation won a Red Dot Award in the Design Concept category of the Red Dot Design Award 2018. The award went to Panasonic’s Kangaroo Charger in recognition of its excellence in design.
The Red Dot Design Award is known worldwide as international product design awards. The Design Concept category is for design innovation and concepts with ideas and visions still in the development stage, before becoming a final product.
The Design Concept category of the Red Dot Design Award 2018 had 5,640 entries from 55 countries, the most so far. Out of these entries, 265 received Red Dot Awards in recognition of their excellent design concepts. The Kangaroo Charger, Panasonic’s winning entry, is based on an idea of a team of young members at the Design Center of the Appliances Company. The concept is an electric pocket using fabric able to generate electricity by solar power, to compensate for loss of battery power of a smartphone in standby mode placed inside.
Panasonic Design will continue to propose new ideas and concepts through applying for international design awards, collaborating with creators outside the company, and taking on other challenges.
