Tria Technologies unveils embedded solutions at electronica 2026

Tria Technologies, an Avnet company specializing in embedded computing, will present its hardware and software ecosystem at the electronica 2026 trade show (November 10-13 in Munich). At booth B5.103, the company will unveil a new modular software platform designed for the development, security, and long-term maintenance of connected products. This offering complements its compute modules, displays, and engineering services, enabling original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to master the entire lifecycle of their embedded architectures.

Modular software approach without vendor lock-in
The launch of this platform marks a strategic evolution for Tria, moving beyond the simple supply of electronic boards. Initially based on a minimalist board support package (BSP), the architecture allows integrators to add optional security and connectivity components as their projects evolve. According to Daniel Denzler, Vice President of Tria Technologies, industrial customers need an open software foundation that does not lock them into a proprietary ecosystem, while guaranteeing support capable of keeping pace with demanding cybersecurity updates.

OSM standardization and Edge AI acceleration
On the hardware side, Tria will exhibit the TRIA OSM-SB-EP5, an OSM V1.2 standard carrier board compatible with Size-S, Size-M, and Size-L formats. This evaluation kit accelerates prototyping and simplifies the development of customized hardware solutions. The company will also present a new OSM module and a COM Express module specifically tailored to handle intensive artificial intelligence workloads at the network edge (Edge AI). Concurrently, Tria will participate in the edge lab LIVE! area to host hands-on demonstrations regarding the technological integration of edge computing.

Additional Context: The OSM (Open Standard Module) Standard and the Role of the BSP
This section details embedded computing hardware architectures and software integration layers not included in the original press release.

In the embedded systems industry (Computer-on-Modules or CoM), miniaturization and resistance to harsh environments push standards beyond traditional pluggable modular formats like COM Express or SMARC. The OSM (Open Standard Module) standard, defined by the SGET (Standardization Group for Embedded Technologies) consortium, introduces modules that are directly solderable onto the carrier board via LGA (Land Grid Array) contacts. This absence of a mechanical connector makes OSM modules extremely resistant to industrial vibrations and shocks while drastically reducing their spatial footprint for IoT applications. To exploit the full potential of these hardware chips, a BSP (Board Support Package) is essential. The BSP constitutes the critical low-level software layer (including the bootloader, device drivers, and memory management mappings) that enables an operating system (such as embedded Linux or an RTOS) to communicate with the processor and the specific components of the board. Providing a modular, documented, and long-term maintained BSP is crucial today to ensure the application of security patches throughout the lifecycle (often exceeding 10 years) of industrial equipment.
