MIKROE Launches EnOcean 5 Click Board

MIKROE has introduced EnOcean 5 Click, a new wireless connectivity Click board™ designed to provide fast, bidirectional communication for EnOcean-based sensors, switches and actuators.

The board integrates the TCM 615 radio transceiver gateway module from EnOcean Alliance, supporting EnOcean Serial Protocol 3.0 (ESP3). It enables both transmission and reception of EnOcean radio telegrams at 868.3 MHz using EnOcean Radio Protocol 1 (ERP1), making it suitable for low-power building automation applications.

According to Nebojsa Matic, CEO of MIKROE, the board is particularly suited for developing energy-efficient dimmers, relays and shutter controllers that rely on self-powered EnOcean switches. The company notes that over 850 embedded projects featuring EnOcean 5 Click are available on its EmbeddedWiki platform.

Integrated gateway and security features
EnOcean 5 Click features an integrated 50Ω RF PCB trace antenna, delivering a sensitivity of -95 dBm and output power of +10 dBm for robust indoor and outdoor wireless performance. The TCM 615 module incorporates advanced security features defined by the EnOcean Alliance, including encryption, decryption, authentication and replay protection.

Communication with host microcontrollers or processors is handled via a UART interface using ESP3, supporting baud rates of 57,600 bps and 460,800 bps.

Simplified integration with mikroBUS™
As part of MIKROE’s mikroBUS™-enabled Click board ecosystem, the EnOcean 5 Click supports automatic host recognition through ClickID. The board is compatible with any system supporting the mikroBUS™ standard and includes mikroSDK open-source libraries to streamline evaluation, prototyping and customization.

With EnOcean 5 Click, developers can rapidly implement low-power wireless connectivity solutions for building automation and other embedded applications.
