Pickering Electronics, the leading manufacturer of high-performance reed relays, will showcase its comprehensive range of relays for semiconductor test, including its new Series 600 customizable high voltage reed relays, offering up to 20kV stand-off across the switch contacts and up to 25kV stand-off switch to coil – at Kyushu Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2025. Pickering will be represented by its local Japanese agent, Comcraft Corporation, who will be available on Booth #A6-11 in Hall A at Marine Messe Fukuoka, Fukuoka City, Kyushu, Japan, from October 8–9, 2025.
Once a dominant force in the global semiconductor market, Kyushu, Japan’s ‘Silicon Island’, is now undergoing a significant resurgence in semiconductor manufacturing, following massive investment from companies such as TSMC, Sony, and Toyota. The 2nd Kyushu Semiconductor Industry Exhibition is a dedicated event for all aspects of semiconductor design, manufacturing, materials, equipment, and test, established to showcase innovation and foster collaboration in the thriving Kyushu semiconductor ecosystem. Around 400 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors are expected.
“The Kyushu Semiconductor Industry Exhibition is an important new show on the global semiconductor calendar, and we’re excited to present our Series 600 customizable high voltage relays here for the first time,” said Robert King, Product Manager at Pickering Electronics. “By combining industry-first 20kV stand-off across the switch contacts with up to 25kV switch-to-coil isolation, plus a fully customisable design, we’re giving test engineers flexibility and the ability to push performance boundaries while keeping systems compact, reliable, and efficient.”
The Series 600 range represents a major innovation in high voltage reed relay design. These devices have been specially designed to be adaptable to meet customer requirements, with customizable options for stand-off voltages up to 20kV across the switch and 25kV switch to coil, as well as configurable pin-outs and connection options, coil resistances, package formats, potting materials, and more. This flexibility enables semiconductor test engineers and system designers to specify the exact relay performance they need, balancing size, isolation, and switching speed for their unique applications. Ideal applications include:
- Semiconductor wafer probe and package test – hi-pot, leakage, stress, and isolation checks
- EV and battery testing – high-voltage charge/discharge cycling
- Solar PV and renewable energy systems – panel isolation and breakdown testing
- Medical and scientific instrumentation – precision high-voltage switching in compact systems
- ‘Big physics’ and research labs – demanding test setups requiring guaranteed reliability
Alongside Series 600, Pickering will also showcase its full portfolio of high-performance reed relays, including:
- High-density switching – relays with a footprint as small as 4mm x 4mm, ideal for semiconductor ATE and mixed-signal test
- RF reed relays – optimised for 50Ω/75Ω systems with low loss and high repeatability
- Ultra-low leakage relays – for sub-pA parametric and capacitance-voltage testing
- Long-life relays – supporting continuous 24/7 operation for millions, or even billions of operations
