Industrial ATX Motherboard for Edge and Automation

Industrial computing platforms increasingly require high processing throughput, long lifecycle support, and flexible system integration. IBASE Technology Inc. has introduced the MBB1004 ATX motherboard to address these requirements with support for Intel Core Series 2 processors with P-cores and 12th Gen Intel Core processors or newer, using the LGA1700 socket.

The motherboard targets industrial automation, edge computing, machine vision, and intelligent infrastructure systems that depend on high-bandwidth expansion and reliable operation in long-term deployments.

Architecture and Processing Capabilities
The MBB1004 platform is built on Intel R680E and Q670E chipsets, providing compatibility with recent Intel Core processor architectures designed for high-performance industrial workloads. These chipsets support enterprise-class features, including enhanced system management and long-term platform availability for industrial deployments.

To support compute-intensive workloads typical in machine vision and edge analytics, the motherboard integrates four DDR5 U-DIMM memory slots with a maximum capacity of 192 GB. DDR5 memory enables higher bandwidth compared with previous DDR4 implementations, improving data throughput for applications that require parallel processing and high memory utilization.

This configuration allows the system to support demanding workloads such as image analysis, edge AI inference, and real-time industrial data processing.

Networking and Industrial Interface Integration

Industrial computing environments often require remote management, system monitoring, and deterministic communication interfaces. The MBB1004 integrates dual 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports using Intel Ethernet Controller I226 Series components.

These interfaces support Intel Active Management Technology (iAMT), enabling remote system diagnostics, provisioning, and maintenance in distributed industrial installations.

Additional industrial connectivity is provided through USB 3.2 interfaces, RS232/422/485 serial ports, and digital I/O. These interfaces allow direct integration with industrial equipment such as sensors, PLCs, and machine controllers.

The board also incorporates a watchdog timer to ensure automatic recovery in case of system failure and a Trusted Platform Module (TPM 2.0) to support hardware-based system security and secure boot processes.

Expansion Architecture for Industrial Systems
Industrial applications frequently require specialized hardware such as GPU accelerators, high-speed storage, and communication modules. The motherboard provides multiple expansion options designed to support such configurations.

Two PCIe x16 Gen5 slots provide high-bandwidth connectivity suitable for GPU accelerators, high-performance frame grabbers, or advanced networking cards. Additional PCIe x4 Gen4 and PCIe x1 Gen3 slots enable integration of secondary expansion devices such as data acquisition modules or industrial interface cards.

The platform also includes four M.2 sockets supporting NVMe storage, CNVi wireless modules, and 5G connectivity. These options enable system designers to deploy high-speed storage and wireless networking within compact industrial system architectures.

Multi-Display and Visualization Support
Industrial monitoring and control systems often require multiple displays for visualization, diagnostics, or operator interfaces. The motherboard integrates several display interfaces, including DisplayPort 1.4a, HDMI 2.0, and DVI-D.

This configuration enables multi-display setups commonly used in industrial control rooms, machine vision inspection systems, and smart infrastructure monitoring platforms.

Industrial Deployment Scenarios
The architecture of the MBB1004 supports several industrial computing scenarios where processing performance and system integration flexibility are required.

In machine vision systems, PCIe expansion allows integration of high-speed frame grabbers and GPU accelerators while DDR5 memory supports rapid processing of image datasets. In edge computing deployments, high-capacity NVMe storage and 2.5GbE networking enable local data processing and transmission to centralized platforms.

Industrial automation systems can use the board’s serial interfaces, digital I/O, and remote management capabilities to connect directly with factory equipment and supervisory control systems.

Industrial Platform Development

IBASE Technology designs and manufactures industrial computing platforms including industrial motherboards, embedded systems, edge AI computers, panel PCs, digital signage players, and network appliances. The company operates manufacturing and quality control facilities in Taiwan certified under ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, and ISO 27001 standards.

Its products support applications across AIoT systems, industrial automation, transportation infrastructure, networking equipment, smart retail, and medical technology environments.
