LAPP has updated and expanded its EPIC connector range with new designs focused on high-current power transmission, resilient motor connections, and tool-free, fast-locking data interfaces for industrial automation environments.

High-current single-pole connections for power distribution
The EPIC POWERLOCK connector addresses applications requiring very high current transmission, such as industrial power distribution systems, test benches, and mobile power supplies. The single-pole connector supports current levels of up to 660 A and has been redesigned to simplify assembly and disconnection.

A key change is a newly developed locking and release mechanism with an integrated slider that allows the connector to be unlocked without special tools. This reduces handling complexity and lowers the risk of improper disconnection during operation or maintenance.

Internally, the contact system has been standardized. Instead of multiple contact variants for different conductor cross-sections, the redesigned POWERLOCK uses a single cone-shaped axial screw contact. This contact geometry spreads the conductor strands automatically during insertion, enabling reliable connection of conductor cross-sections ranging from 35 to 240 mm². Mechanical and color coding are used to reduce the risk of incorrect conductor assignment.

The connector’s current capacity, combined with its locking mechanism and IP-protected design, positions it for use in high-power industrial environments where robustness and safe handling are critical.

Power connectors for servo and automation systems
For motor and drive applications, LAPP has introduced the EPIC M23 Power Quickflex circular connector. The design targets servo motors, automation systems, robotics, and mobile machinery that require high electrical resilience within limited installation space.

The connector incorporates a tool-free Quickflex locking mechanism and supports variable pole configurations through modular, interchangeable inserts. This modularity allows system designers to adapt the connector to different power requirements and simplifies field conversions without replacing the entire connector assembly.

The mechanical design is intended to withstand vibration and temperature stresses typical of drive and automation systems, supporting reliable operation in dynamic industrial environments.

Push-pull interfaces for fast industrial communication
To address increasing demands for faster installation and reduced downtime in industrial communication, LAPP has introduced EPIC ClickConnect technology for M12 patch cords and cord sets. The system uses a push-pull locking principle that eliminates the need for tools during connection and disconnection.
