Watlow will present its latest intelligent heating and sensing innovations for semiconductor manufacturing at SEMICON Europa 2025, Booth C2401. The company will demonstrate how its integrated technologies enable next-generation chip production by improving process precision, reliability and energy efficiency.
As semiconductor processes grow more complex, maintaining exact temperature control has become essential to yield, throughput and sustainability. Watlow’s advanced thermal systems help manufacturers overcome common challenges such as hotspot-induced defects, contamination risks and downtime. By combining intelligent controls, predictive analytics and ultra-efficient heating solutions, Watlow delivers the performance and reliability required for future-ready fabs.
Enabling Smarter Manufacturing, Solving Real-World Challenges
Smart manufacturing doesn’t just mean new hardware—it’s about making your fab faster, cleaner, more productive and less costly. Semiconductor leaders trust Watlow to help them to reduce yield loss through impeccable temperature uniformity, avoiding hotspot-induced defects and the risk of contamination that can upend device performance. Our customers can mitigate downtime with robust technologies featuring predictive analytics, remote support, and built-in fail safes that keep lines running. Find out how we can help you slash energy consumption up to 50% savings in critical heating applications—by replacing legacy systems with ultra-efficient heaters, smart controls, and optimized process design. Come and see our breakthrough solutions, all engineered for today’s demanding environments:
Visitors will be able to learn more about Watlow’s ASSURANT SF™ subfab systems, which will be featured for the first time at SEMICON Europa. These systems are engineered for process gas delivery and abatement, with a modular, customisable design that ensures contamination control, safety and reliability. They offer flexibility for both new fab construction and upgrades to existing facilities.
Intelligent Control and Predictive Capability
Watlow’s PowerNode™ smart control panel will feature prominently at SEMICON Europa. It combines temperature and smart power control within one compact unit, reducing the need for separate controllers and complex wiring. The system’s integrated monitoring functions, including voltage, current and temperature sensing, enhance safety, simplify troubleshooting and support more consistent process stability.
“Our solutions combine real-time data and machine learning to help fabs move from reactive to predictive maintenance,” said Chelsea Hogard, Engineering Team Leader for Industry 4.0 Developments at Watlow. “This shift maximises uptime, enhances safety and gives manufacturers valuable operational insight.”
Precision at the Wafer Level
Watlow’s POWERGLIDE™ multi-zone pedestal heaters deliver precise thermal uniformity and repeatability across wafer surfaces during ALD, CVD and etch processes. By maintaining consistent temperature profiles, POWERGLIDE systems extend tool life, enhance yield and support tighter process control.
The company will showcase its FLUENT™ Ultra-Efficient Heaters, which offer compact, high-power density heating for ultra-fast ramp rates and repeatable manufacturing conditions. These systems help customers achieve up to 50% energy savings compared to legacy heating solutions, combining efficiency with safety and scalability.
ULTRAMIC® advanced ceramic heaters and Watlow’s unique Plasma Spray technology will also be on display, showcasing rapid, ultra-high watt heating, fast heat-up and cool-down, highly customizable heater circuits, and excellent thermal connection for improved process efficiency and system integration.
A Sustainable and Collaborative Approach
Sustainability is a central focus of Watlow’s innovation strategy. Its pedestal refurbishment programme offers a practical and environmentally responsible alternative to replacement by re-bonding new ceramic layers onto existing structures. This restores performance, extends service life and reduces both waste and energy consumption.
“As the semiconductor industry evolves, precision thermal control remains at the heart of process performance,” said Andrew Desloge, Business Unit Managing Director at Watlow. “Our intelligent, integrated systems combine efficiency, reliability and sustainability, supporting our customers’ progress towards the energy transition.”
Watlow’s commitment extends beyond technology to partnership. Its engineering teams work closely with customers to identify process challenges, optimise system design and ensure seamless integration. Global service and remote diagnostics capability further support maximum uptime and return on investment.
